Similar to the larger, streamfed presses, the 3304HA’s Semi-Automatic
Plate Changers operate simply by inserting the plate and pushing a button.
Make ready times are slashed by the speed and high accuracy of this automatic
feature which requires no tools to operate. Polyester, paper and metal plates
all work smoothly on the 3304HA.
These pins secure the plate in position and allow the operator to quickly
and accurately mount plates. Plate clamp springs provide highly accurate,
consistent plate tensioning and make the Ryobi 3304HA the perfect press for
running with metal or polyester plates.
The newly developed high-precision scoping register punch comes standard
with the 3304HA. The registration marks exposed on the plates serve as the
point of reference for plate punching. Hence, each image is registered to
the last image - not to the edge of the plate. This will not only correct
minor stripping errors but will also further reduce make-ready times due to
the reduced need for the operator to adjust the registration.
The Ryobi 3304HA features a simple mechanism that links two sets of
2-color printing units via three double and triple diameter transfer drums.
Printing is completed using only four gripper transfers (none while the sheet
is on impression). This is the same cylinder design that has allowed Ryobi
to dominate the 14 x 20" market. With so few transfers, and none during printing,
the sheet has no chance to mark, nick or misregister. Consequently, even during
high-speed or heavy solid printing, precise registration is accurately maintained.
The dampening section features the Ryobi SuperDampener, a continuous
damp- ening system originally developed by Ryobi. A six roller arrangement,
including a motorized fountain roller, forms an optimal aqua film on the plate
surface from the start of printing. This flexible system allows the operator
to finely adjust the dampening supply volume to match ink, plate materials,
paper stock and environmental conditions. An additional advantage is that
the SuperDampener is ideal for a wide range of plate materials.
The Ryobi PCS-F is a printing control system including an operation
stand that enables remote control of the ink fountain keys. At the operation
stand, the operator can balance and adjust each ink fountain key by remote
control. Centralized operation at the delivery side minimizes operator movement
and further reduces the make-ready by bringing your job up to color very quickly
with a minimum of paper waste. Up to 100 printing date sets can can be stored
on a single 3.5" floppy disk and retrieved as necessary – further cutting
make-ready times for repeat jobs.
Ryobi’s Ink Volume Setter Software enables image area ink coverage
to be calculated based on PostScript data created on your pre-press system.
Setup times are dramatically shortened by the transfer of information from
your pre-press file to the ink density controls on the PCS-F. Ink settings
are right within the first couple of pulls. Furthermore, the fully automated
nature of the 3304HA makes it perfect for use with the many direct to plate
technologies currently available.
